Abstract

Background: Cataracts is one of the causes vision loss that require surgery, one of which is phacoemulsification. After surgery, patients need proper education to improve their knowledge and prevent complications. In the digital era, video used to give health education because it’s more interesting and easier to understand than conventional methods. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of education using video media on patients with phacoemulsification at Sari Asih Hospital in Ciledug. Method: The research was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. Respondents were divided into two groups there are intervention group, which received video-based education, and the control group, which received conventional education. Results: there was a significant difference between the two groups after the intervention was carried out (p-value <0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that providing education through video media is more effective in increasing the knowledge of post-phacoemulsification patients. Video can be used as an effective and relevant alternative to education in nursing services in the digital era.
